OBC releases tutorials for BARISTA The Office of the Bar Confidant has recently issued a Notice to the 2023 Bar Applicants on the availability of the Bar Applicant Registration Information System and Tech Assistance (BARISTA) User Guide and Video Tutorials. See full text of the announcement below: Applicants may visit the 2023 Bar microsite for more information. Bar Examinations-related concerns may also be raised through the 2023 Bar Examinations Helpdesk Form or through the OBC Hotline at (02) 8552 9690 or (02) 8552 9642 during office hours (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM). They may also receive updates relating to BARISTA, through the 2023 Viber Channel.

Atty. Andre Tayag of MLC Batch 2020 appointed as PCUP Commissioner Atty. Andre Niccolo Tayag of Batch 2020 has recently been appointed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos as Commissioner for Luzon of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP). Atty. Tayag is one of the youngest persons to hold such position in the history of PCUP. He passed the bar earlier this year and was hired as Marcos’ lawyer in the recently held presidential elections. Aside from being appointed as PCUP commissioner, Atty. Tayag also recently got promoted as Entered Apprentice of the Grand Lodge of Modern Mixed Mason. He also previously held the position of Lord Exelsius of the Pi Sigma Fraternity.

SC grants Atty. Paa’s petition for TRO vs NCAP The Supreme Court recently granted Atty. Juman Paa’s petition for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) of the City of Manila. Atty. Paa earlier this month filed a petition for certiorari with prayer for TRO against NCAP implementation before the Court on the ground that it violates the motorists’ right to privacy and due process. Kilusan sa Pagbabago ng Industriya ng Transportasyon, Inc (KAPIT), a transport-oriented group, also filed a similar petition before the high tribunal. Atty. Paa is a long-time faculty member of Manila Law College.

Erfe was awarded as the 2017 Outstanding Individual in Government Service in Forensic Medicine by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) at Malacanang Palace on August 16, 2017.
